Japanese Cafe Interior Design | Egg Sake Bistro | University of Melbourne Union | Australia | Architects EAT

A 150m2 Japanese canteen fit out located on the basement level of University of Melbourne Union building. It consists of 2 plywood boxes which are strategically placed to create circulation around the counter displays. Alike Japanese food stalls, the ‘theatre of cooking’ opens out to the public, hence we can see the chef steaming and grilling – with an abundance of steam pouring out of the large operable window.......more

Cafe Interior Design | Late Night Cafe + Bar | London | jak studio

Being a London based practice the mixture of cultures in this city is always fascinating, and Andrae the owner of Petri late night bar and café was keen to bottle it. As an interior brief it had its challenges, the bar was to be a flexible space designed to accommodate sophisticated after work drinkers, diners, and late night clubbers.
Yet the space had been derelict for several years, so the budget and time was tight. With this in mind we designed it as a raw, bold space yet still warm and full of life and colour..........more

Cafe Interior Design | Salon B | Bibliocafé and Art Gallery | Montréal | Canada | Naturehumaine

On the right side, a huge table gives people the chance to get together, chat and talk. Behind, on display for curious clients, are books that are ready to be taken from the shelves, then read or skimmed through.
On the left side, bare walls are waiting to be adorned by art pieces: an empty space ideal for contemplation. Facing each other, books and art pieces are engaged in a dialogue.
On the street side, a huge picture window has been set in an alcove, so clients can enjoy the sun while reading a book, comfortably seated, or looking at the people strolling on St-Laurent Boulevard......more

Cafe Interior Design | Cafe Vue | Melbourne International Airport | Elenberg Fraser

Café Vue @ Melbourne International Airport is designed to create a unique moment of natural beauty and serenity within the fast and artificial experience of modern international travel. Similar to Shannon Bennett’s exquisite menu, the interior design concept is drawn from French culture, with the life of Marie Antoinette at the Palace of Versailles re-invented in a commercial contemporary interior rich in detail, pattern and artistry. The Café is experienced as a bright contemporary garden folly within the huge volume of the new Melbourne International Terminal hall and brings a new quality of experience and place connected to history, culture and the natural garden environment. Shannon’s concept of the ‘take-away’ airline food box also enables customers to take the experience and memory of the Café with them on their travels. ..........more

Cafe Interior Design | Kalavrita Cafe | Greece | Point Supreme

Kalavrita is a picturesque mountain town surrounded by natural beauty. The project uses a deliberately limited palette of materials that collectively reflect the natural setting.
The existing series of diagonal columns supporting the residential floor above are emphasized and connected to create a continuous line, framing the dramatic views. Custom-made terracotta tiles, echoing the roof tiles of the area, cover the floor and bar and extend to the exterior. The ceiling has been sloped mimicking the slope of the roof above. This combined with the diagonal columns creates an unusual unrest in the space. The contextual colour palette creates a merging of inside and outside and a constant reminder of the natural setting......more

Cafe Interior Design | Qubik bar Monfalcone Kinemax | Monfalcone | Italy | Waltritsch a + u

Qubik Monfalcone is one of the concept bars of a new brand of selected blends named Qubik caffè.
This Qubik bar is located inside a cinema multiplex, in a context similar to a commercial center or an airport, without windows or outdoor spaces. The silk-screened colored glass envelope provides a sober and elegant atmosphere to welcome the passer by. A long black cantilevered Corian counter act as
catalyst into the atrium of the multiplex, while a bench and a few chairs provides a more intimate alcove. In between there is the Kubo, a monolith-counter on wheels. Particular care was devoted to the presentation of the goods of the brand, following the Quality Boutique Caffè concept: an illuminated lantern, like a sugar cube terminates the suspended bar counter, while different color glass shelves are marking the glass cladded walls, and a shopper-rack over the cash desk is ready for those willing to buy the brand products........more

Cafe Interior Design | Cielito Querido Café | Mexico | Esrawe

CIELITO ® rescues the aesthetic value of popular Latin-American culture, and reinvents it in a Neo-Retro style that fuses graphics from colonial times, both Spanish and French, (present in its fine use of typography), with modern Latin American 50’s media like that from the large department stores (whose marketing was also imported from the Old Continent and the United States), and the contrasting colloquial language of the popular markets and tiny convenient stores, or “tienditas”. All of these elements are subtly integrated, producing a contemporary product, very Latin, and at the same time, universal in appeal.

The concept opens up the possibility of communicating with a broader audience, as it turns it into a timeless product, which is nurtured by its past but also continually seeks to present itself in new, fresh and attractive ways......more

Restaurant Interior Design | Ella Dining Room and Bar | Sacramento | California | UXUS Design

UXUS was approached by a leading restaurateur in California to create a unique dining concept for their new location in California’s State Capital, Sacramento. UXUS created a complete restaurant concept including the interior restaurant layout and design as well as the branding and house style.

The restaurant covers an area of 700 m2 and seats 250 guests. All areas of the restaurant –bar, wine cellar, main dining area & private dining– were created by UXUS.

Central to Ella’s concept is the communal dining experience of the Table d’Hôte, which is designed to make the diners feel as if the chef has invited them to a private dinner party in his kitchen.

Ella has won many international design awards and has been featured on the cover of several major design publications..........more

Cafe Interior Design | Urbun Cafe | abgc architecture

The design strategy for Urbun was to engage the café with the passer-by by locating the kitchen in the shop window; pedestrians get a full day’s show as the chefs bake bread and cakes and prepare salads, soups and sandwiches. The dining area runs the full depth of the unit taking light and views from both the public street to the front and the development’s garden to the rear..........more

Cafetaria Interior Design | The Nestlé Cafeteria | Beijing | China | EXH Design

The Nestlé Cafeteria is a room extended on the roof terrace as a winter garden. It has a beautiful view, but the biggest problem is too much sunlight. We were inspired by the grape trellis of the Xinjiang minorities, where the people enjoy the cool in high summer, sitting on carpets and served food and wine; this links exactly with Nestle as a food company. In the same way we make the ceiling fully hanged with layers of plexi-glass leaves as sunshade, to provide a nice space to escape.......more

Cocktail Lounge Interior Design | The Brownstone | Shanghai | China | Kokai Studios

The ‘Brownstone’ is a cocktail lounge located in the Surpass Court of Yonjia Lu 570, emerging epicenter of Shanghai night life. It was developed as a prototype for a venue of new concept in co-operation with ‘Blue Horizon Hospitality Group’ (Blue Frog). The project combines a simple and efficient layout, partly suggested by the limited dimensions of the venue, with the complex and redundant interplay of textures and custom-made elements concurring to define the sophisticated atmosphere and the strong identity of the place, a one-of-a-kind experience lousily inspired, in the intentions of the client, to the decadent turn-of-the-Century French ‘Salons’...........more

Cafe Interior Design | The Music Cafe | Suffolk | UK | Haworth Tompkins

The creative campus at Snape Maltings was founded by Benjamin Britten in derelict industrial buildings on the Suffolk coast. The Music Cafe is part of Haworth Tompkins’ phased extension of the creative campus for Aldeburgh Music and converts a former granary store into a new café and reception point for artists and staff. The project completes the working environment by connecting the main concert hall back of house facilities with the Britten Pears Music School and the Dovecote studio. A small café terrace faces out over the reedbeds of the Suffolk marshes...........more

Cafe Interior Design | Wvam Cafe | West Valley Art Museum | Colab Studio

The humble and fun West Valley Art Museum wanted to renovate the and cafe and restrooms within their existing facility to attract new patrons and increase revenue. With a very limited budget and schedule, it was decided to work with many of the existing elements, concentrating mostly on new finishes. The design focused on the existing dominant grid of the store front glazing system between the dining area and patio. Vinyl graphics break down its scale and give personality to the conventional grid. Fabric strips suspended from the ceiling shapes evocative of typical suburban roof shapes, which are the dominant architectural form in the museum’s suburban setting...........more

Cafetaria Interior Design | Kirschgarten Mensa | Basel | Switzerland | HHF Architects

The purpose of the project was to integrate a cafeteria into the existing lobby of a high school building. Wood strips are installed on top of the existing concrete floor and wall structure extending out to the courtyard like ribbons. The wood strips are simultaneously serving as a sun screen covering the terrace, where students sit and eat their lunch. The new wood construction now links the exterior to the interior enabling direct access from the courtyard.

On the interior the wood facing traces the existing concrete structure. A glass facade which almost disappears from the outside works as thermal barrier. With that, the outer appearance of the building, with its slim columns, is kept as before. The color concept with its different shades of grey was done in collaboration with the Swiss artist Gido Wiederkehr.....more
