Pavillion Interior Design | Moet Marquee | Melbourne | Australia | LAVA
A computer-model, based on the simulation of complexity in naturally evolving systems, fed directly into a production line of sail making software and digital manufacturing for this pavilion at Australia’s premier horse race. This resulted in the efficient generation of space out of lightweight material. A perforated ceiling filtered natural light, creating a sparkling and surreal atmosphere......more

Exhibition Interior Design | Enzo Ferrari House Exhibition | Modena | Italy | Shiro Studio
Andrea Morgante was commissioned in 2010 by “Fondazione Enzo Ferrari” to design a permanent exhibition inside Ferrari’s birthplace house. The building, constructed in 1830 by Ferrari’s father, served as a workshop and residence for the Ferrari Family until 1920. The display system was conceived as a large-scale vertical book that allows the visitor to read the different chapters of Ferrari’s life through various media; a three-dimensional immersive biography. The system takes the form of a sinuous wall separated into pages, so that as visitors progress down the room, they are obliged to gradually discover each page and chapter in sequence. At every point the next chapter is concealed so as to maintain interest and create a sense of excitement. This organic landscape stretches through the entire length of the 40 metre long space and soft, low-level backlighting gently illuminates both it and the room, making the space intimate in spite of its size........more
Visitor Information Centre Interior Design | NYC Visitor Information Center | New York | WXY Studio
Designed by WXY and Local Projects, the new NYC Visitor Information Center just north of Times Square transforms a storefront into an "information space", seamlessly integrating media design and architecture to meet visitors at any level of engagement. The Center is a portal for New York, where people discover an array of local experiences.
The view from the street pulls the visitor into the information architecture. The graphic banding of floor and walls creates a foreshortened perspective to simulate the city experience within the Center.

Exhibition Interior Design | Arco Fair 09 | 28th International Contemporary Art Fair | Madrid | Herreros Arquitectos
Following the approach tested in space ARCO 08, it is proposed an expansion of the exhibition concept that it was already pursuing a dynamic space that wants to be a hallmark of this fair. Therefore, the plan shows a number of broad corridors obvious hierarchies, broken, that expand and contract causing a breakdown of democratic and optimized galleries offering obvious improvements in terms of visibility and exhibition opportunities..........more
Chungmuro Intermedia Playground | Seoul | Korea | Mass Studies
The existing space is a long tunnel/corridor connecting two parts of the Chungmuro station. We wanted to exploit the linear quality of the space/movement and a simultaneous experience of depth and amplitude by creating a kaleidoscopic space, allowing both the idea of passage (travel) and destination (arrival) to exist simultaneously. The compositional elements in a kaleidoscope move to create different mirrored patterns viewed from a static point. In the project the occupant provides the movement; the project pieces and other occupants reconfigure themselves in relation the viewer creating a multi-direction, boundless and dynamic interactive experience..........more
Exhibition Interior Design | Swiss National Exhibition Expo.02 | Holzer Kobler Architekturen
The goal of Swiss National Exhibition Expo.02 was to define Switzerland as a place. In this context the exhibition Heimatfabrik had a very special importance. In reality it is a reflection of the Expo.02 in general. Heimatfabrik is a wide container that attempts to define “homeland”, this definition emerged after intense cultural research. With their works six artists illuminated specific aspects of the issue and injected it with the following six themes. Filter: homeland is landscape, everything foreign is overlooked. Order: homeland belongs to everyone, who occupies public space? Connect: homeland is language. Who do you know best? Incite: homeland is economy. Who understands the systems? Cultivate: homeland is whatever I make of it. Assemble: homeland is belonging, it is more than a place........more
Exhibition Booth Design | Glocal Design Station | Habitat Expo | Mexico City | ROW Studio
The whole booth was intended as a resting station, where the visitors to the fair can take a seat and read the magazine while sheltered inside a wrapping cocoon that keeps them away from the surrounding noises, lights and agitation. Four twisted elements act both as benches and as storage space.
The 170 components of the Glocal Design Station where assembled and presented for the first time in Habitat Expo in Mexico City from 26th to the 28th of May 2011 and will be present in several other trade fairs for the rest of the year. Once this year’s exhibition cycle is over it will become a permanent feature of the meeting room of the publisher’s offices...........more
Exhibition Interior Design | Focus Terra | ETH Earth Sciences | Holzer Kobler Architekturen
Organically shaped vertical showcases extend upwards into the air, their tapering bodies reminiscent of volcanic forms. They penetrate through two floor slabs that are angled towards one another in such a way that it appears as if tectonic forces had shifted them. In this way the dynamic body frees itself from the rigid cubature of the interior courtyard. The open room structure of the tower unit allows for a variety of perspectives into and through the space............more
Exhibition Interior Design | German Pavilion World Expo Shanghai | Milla Interior Design
On their way through the "City in Balance", visitors experience ideas and solutions "Made in Germany" for urban challenges. In its thematic diversity, balancity unfolds itself throughout the exhibition as a sequence of diverging, designed thematic experiential spaces. Many of the exhibits are interactive using state-of-the art interfaces. People are activated and experience for themselves how important it is to maintain a balance - between modernisation and preservation, innovation and tradition, community and the individual, work and leisure and between globalisation and national identity. The interactive show in the Energy Source, an awesome dome like theatre, is the highlight of the tour. In line with the motto "together we can really make a difference", 600 visitors together can influence and bring to life the sphere (3m diameter, 1.2 tons, 400.000 LEDs) and the entire room by calling. The pavilion and its exhibits are an invitation to open dialogue.........more
Trade fair Stand Design | Hanover Fair 2008 | Milla and Partner
"Talking about Energy" - E.ON at the Hanover Fair 2008. The guiding idea of the trade fair stand concept: a "Market Place of Opinions". Architectural gesture was an Agora, the antique Greek market place, on which E.ON hosted open, controversial discussions in a two-hourly rhythm about various topics of energy production and energy policy with strong participation of the audience. A semi-permeable mirror in full stand width served in a dual function as LED information surface and enormous mirror, reflecting the happening on the stand and doubling the stand space.......more
Exhibition Interior Design | Polish Pavilion for the Expo 2010 | WWAA
The interior and the exhibition design of the Polish Pavilion for the Expo 2010 in Shanghai is a continuation of the architectural idea of the form of the building and the details of the facade. The aesthetic concept of the pavilion is brought inside and the folk cut-outs lead the visitors through the entrance into the main hall and then, while transforming into other patterns, are continuously guiding them through all the exhibition. The usage of the cut-out patterns has not only an aesthetic value, but also an educational function associated with the main theme of the EXPO: „better cities-better life”. The cut-outs changing from the folk forms into organic ones and finally into a city-map and industrial patterns are a metaphor of migration of people from countryside into cities. The story that the patterns are suppose to tell is the base for the presented images and films showing Poland through its history, culture, economy and every-day life. The design of the cut-outs goes with the presented on it contents changing along the visitors’ route.......more
Chanel Mobile Art Pavilion | Hong Kong | Tokyo | New York | Paris | Zaha Hadid
The form of the 700 m² Chanel Pavilion is a celebration of the iconic work of Chanel, unmistakeable for its smooth layering of exquisite details that together create an elegant, cohesive whole. The resulting functional, and versatile architectural structure of the Pavilion is a series of continuous arch shaped elements, with a courtyard in its central space. Artificial light behind the translucent ceiling washes the walls to emphasize the ‘arched’ structure, and assists in the creation of a new artificial landscape for art installations. A large roof light opening dramatically floods the entrance in daylight to blur the relationship between interior and exterior. In addition to the lighting and colour effects, the spatial rhythm created by the seams of each segment gives strong perspective views throughout the interior......more

Exhibition Interior Design | Council of Fashion Designers of America | New York | Gabellini Sheppard Associates
Gabellini Sheppard Associates was commissioned in February 1995 to design five consecutive exhibitions spanning two and a half years for the Accessory Designs of the Council of Fashion designers of America (CFDA). The exhibitions took place in the 1930’s classic, black-granite-clad Raymond Hood building on 41st Street fronting Bryant Park and The New York Public Library. These presentations were staged simultaneously with the seasonal runway shows of the CFDA ready-to-wear designers, which were presented in white canvas tents within the park green.
Guest of Honor Pavilion | 2009 Guadalajara International Book Fair | Guadalajara | Mexico | John Friedman Alice Kimm Architects
Guest of Honor: The annual Guadalajara International Book Fair (the Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara, or simply “FIL”) is the second largest book fair in the world and one of the largest cultural events in Latin America. In 2009, Los Angeles was its Guest of Honor and after a long selection process, JFAK was chosen to design the 20,000 square foot Guest of Honor Pavilion that would project Los Angeles’ identity for the nine days of the fair.
Innovation: The pavilion’s design created a public plaza where people could gather, interact, and trade ideas and visions. The larger theme that guided the design’s content was that of innovation – a theme common to L.A.’s artistic, cultural, commercial, and developmental history.
Atmosphere: Rather than stuffing the pavilion with books and facts about Los Angeles, the design created an ephemeral, atmospheric environment that itself communicated the spirit of this elusive, ever-changing City. The pavilion was designed to embody innovation, rather than to display it.......more
Exhibition Design | Dandy | Nordiska Museet, Stockholm | From Us With Love
What is a dandy? What does he look like? Some say a dandy is a particular person. Others say a dandy is a way of life. The architecture of the exhibition dissect the dandy into pieces, in order to expose the details that makes the Dandy.
Architecture for the exhibition "Dandy" at Nordiska Museet, Stockholm.
The architecture consists of dismembered mannequins, fused with MDF boxes which then has been laqcuered in a slate grey, giving the illusion that a stonecutter has started working on sculptures, but only finished the parts essential for the exhibition pieces.
The exhibition gives examples of how a contemporary Dandy could look. Tailor Frederik Andersen, fashion researcher Rickard Lindqvist, journalist Olaf Enckell, stylist Lalle Johnson, author Björn af Kleen, designer Göran Sundberg and shop owner Christian Quaglia have all given their suggestions on the modern style dandy.......more
Exhibition Interior | The Good Life | WORKac
A design for a Van Alen Institute exhibition about new urban public spaces. Projects were divided into five themes: The Fun City, The Healthy City, The Cultured City, The Connected City and The 24—Hour City. A single gesture – the wiggle - creates a series of discrete and varied environments for the themes, along with a stage for events and a lounge. The wiggle was created from a sinuous band of fabric, manipulated to create openings, windows for video screens and areas to gather and sit. In collaboration with graphic designers Project Projects....more
Exhibition | Donor Hall Research Study Installation | New York, USA | INABA
Research Study, Installation
160 SM
New York, USA
New Museum
with C-Lab
Cultural philanthropy is an expansive field that offers many distinct conceptions of what constitutes ‘culture’ and what purposes it serves. Culture can be a form of enlightenment, entertainment, politics, and even a weapon. The diverse forms of cultural donations reveal a multitude of conceptions about its value and purposes.
Donor Hall at the New Museum provides a picture of global giving, and raises the question of who are the constituencies of cultural philanthropy and what are the specific relations that are constructed between cultural givers and the audiences that they benefit. Using publicly available information about contributions to arts and culture around the world, drawn from sources such as tax filings, corporate annual reports, newspapers and research papers, Donor Hall indicates the contours of global generosity.
The installation arranges organizations and individual donors into categories ranging from national governments to private foundations, media conglomerates to populist movements. The categories do not suggest that a common ideological position is advanced or that the givers share a motive for cultural investment, but rather they allow the viewer to read and interpret the various modes of giving that the donors practice. The categories provide a cross-section of global philanthropy and the many forms that it takes, grouping the givers as broadly as possible by the areas of cultural, political, and/or economic activity in which they operate. Despite their different missions, what unites these groups is an evident belief in the value and power of culture and a desire to use their resources for its support.
The categories of donors are arranged as pie charts and overlaid onto large-scale photographs of actual pies and other foods, a whimsical gesture or parody of the ruthlessness of statistical representations. The entire surface consists of a ‘micro-text’ of quotes from world literature, providing a wide range of commentary on gifts and generosity. A menagerie of cartoon animals, symbolizing prosperity and good fortune in various cultural traditions, frolics among the food and data.
